Homebrew weapons and armor
The tier tables are the balance. Start from an entry and change one thing.
Weapons
- Find a weapon of the same tier with the range and burden you want and add it to the maker.
- Rename it, then change the trait or the damage type. Those are close to free.
- A feature that helps should cost something: a smaller die, a shorter range or a second hand. Look at how the table pays for its own features.
- Two-handed and longer range both mean smaller dice at the same tier.
Armor
- Armor trades thresholds, armor score and a feature against each other. Higher score usually comes with a drawback feature.
- Keep new armor inside the threshold range of its tier.
Items and potions
One sentence, one effect. If it is consumed, say when. The consumables table is a good style guide.
